Guinness World Record Event

The Inaugural Transcontinental
Relay For The Tiger

Relay The Zoe Foundation has been given the approval and the guidelines from the Guinness Book of World Records to stage a transcontinental relay. If completed according to their specifications it will be certified a World Record event.

This event is going to be organized to accomplish two goals. First, it will direct attention worldwide on the extinction of the tiger. Secondly, it will direct people to several ways they can help fund the development of a new facility designed to save the species. That funding will be generated by a cross country display of a life size sculpture designed as the centerpiece for the park and a unique global competitive event called The Manx. That event will be a world record attempt in itself.

TigersThe relay calls for fifteen runners plus support personnel. Each relay member will run a ten mile leg and then rest until the cycle of runners has been completed. That runner will then run another ten mile leg, etc. until the course is covered. The runner will carry a light replica tiger symbolizing the need for human help. This replica will be designed so the two front paws will reach over the runner's shoulders so nothing will have to be hand carried. This is done for public/media attention. The course would be laid out from ocean to ocean (East coast to West coast).

The run will be staged from a caravan of five banner wrapped motor homes and several support vehicles. Digital video will be used to keep the world abreast of the progress via the Internet.

In addition we will promote a worldwide contest designed to enhance viewership. This contest challenges people to estimate the time it will take to complete this event. Information about each runner and the course will be featured on the foundation's Web site. All entries will be conducted via the Internet generating world wide participation.
